These photos where from the first photoshoot i took of my girl band but then i changed my mind and decided on somethink else.

I decided to edit these photos on
photoshop and use them as my edits.

I used the Magic wand tool to make them black and white when i chose my layer also the quick selection tool.
I converted my pictures to black and white and selected the colours i wanted.

Contence Page

I got this contence page from this webpage.

Usings a big image sets the page of abit more because there is a sex appeal. This would maybe appeal to a male audiance. Using page numbers will make it alot more easier for the people reading the magazine to guide them selfs around it.

The contence page stands out alot more than any of the other contence pages because it's colours are alot more bright and the pictures used would pay bring in a wider rang of audiance.

"Acid days" is known as a buzz word because it stands out

also the magazine set up is layed out in the right hand corner in a house styled magazine layout.

Mood Board

Double page spread.

This double paged spread is taken form Top of the Pops Magazine.

Using big writing as the titlebrings people and and because it is in big bold and bright colours people who are attracted to the Jonas brother or camp rock might just buy this magazine because they like them.

Jonas brothers are an eye catching band and in the eyes of girls there very popular. Using single pictures of the characters can catch the audiances eye because using single . Question and answer is being used fro the interview which means that questions will be answered alot more indepth.

I have choosen to take an article out of the NME magazine which is foucusing around interviewing Lilly Allen.

The title writing used for the double page spread is the same as the front cover that was issued with this article.

The picture that was taken for this double page spread takes up the whole of the right hand side of the page so this leaves the left hand side of the page free for writing and the main title. They have over laped the picture of Lilly Allen into the title. Using a colour contrast of red white and black this means that the red writing links into the colours on Lilly allens shirt.

The article is started of with a dropped capitles and then is carried on with a plain black writing to link in with the colour scheme. The writing is small so that more infomation can be fitted in. If i would of just looked at the magazine double page spread and no front cover came with it i would know that it came from NME because the page number and the little NME red sign in the corner of the page next to the page number. The magazine have taken a sentence of what Lily Alen said in her interview to use as the title of the double paged spread

I Have decided that my magazine genre will be based around pop. I have choosen this genre because i listern to mainly pop music even though it's not my faviroute genre i think it will stand out more for the audiance than any other. Some of my favirote solo artist/bands follow :-
Lily Allen -Spice Girls-The Kooks-Kate Nash-Calvin Harris and Artic Monkey.

We decided that the mock up of what the teacher drew on the board was the outline of the OK! magazine. I thought that the OK! magazine was aimed at people from around 16+

Semiotiocs On Teen Magazine Front Covers.

We have been asked to focus on the colours on a teen magazine and how they stand out and link into the whole magazine layout. i have decided to do Rave Magazine

Rave Magazine
We discussed this magazine front cover in class.
This issue of rave is a christmas addition.
Using a popular popstar means that not only "Rave" fan but Fergie from the Blackeyed Peas fan's will be drawn to the magazine because she is issued in it.
The magazine is set out how a normal magazine would be with the main meduim image in the middle also known as "homestyle".
The Masterhead of the magazine stands out because the colour of the Rave is the same colour of what Fergie is wearing so it links the magazine and the picture in together.
The christmas addition of Rave is put across with the typical christmas colours - Red green and white.
The Rave Magazine editors have used green bold writing to make the main headings, this makes them stand out and might bring the audiance in because it catches the eye of some people also with the big "THE HOLIDAY ISSUE" in capitals means that it would stand out and with it being bright red to show that it was the festive session.

Rolling Stone Magazine
Alot of people would pick this magazine up because it has Zac Efron on the front of it , and alot of teenage girl see him as a heartthrob. Using models like Zac Efron means that not only the Fans of the Rolling stone magazine but the Hundres of thousands of Zac Efrons fans might pick this magazine up. Using a white background in the magazine shows alot more of Zack and it focus's on him using bright colours to shows the title. Using only grey ,red ,orange and yellow means that it stands out alot more than the typical grey and black.

Top of the pops.
Top of the pops stopped producing there magazines in 2006
but i have found and old "spice girl" verson of top of the pops.

Top of the pops only used to use up to date bands and at the time spice girls would of been top of the bands. The way the picture is used to link in to the title is very clever because they are going for the whole "world power" so they have made the spice girls hold up a globe. The spice girls slogan was "girl power " and the way that they have linked the world power to the girl power. Using a blackbackground means that any writing they put on the front of the magazine is going to stand out more than it would on a white background
Using three colours yellow blue and white which over powers the black. Top of the pops have used Buzz words such as PLUS in capitals so that it catches the eye of the audiance.

Terminology For Media Magazines

Drop Capitals.
Drop capitals is something that starts in Capital betters that stands out , they are normally used to start a article off.
Buzz Words
Buzz Words are used when somethink needs to stand out for example if there was a free magazine included or free poster then the buzz words would be "free". Such words and Wow and Exclusive are used as Buzz words aswell.
Lead
A lead is the introductory paragraph of an article.
Puffs.
Puff are something that promote things that are on the inside of the magazine.
Normally puff are bright colourfull things that outline the main features.
Housestyle
Something that stands out from the rest.
Masterhead
Is the name of the magazine which is normal put in big fancy writing
Caption
Caption is something used to name an image.
Sell Lines
Sell Lines are words that are used to promote and sell the magazine.
Headline
A headline is the main story that is going on in the magazine. The headline is normal used to stand out.
Moto
Moto is a catchy phrase or word to make the magazine stand out and recognise the band.
Pugs
Pugs are know as the price the barcode etc these are known as "the ears".
Strap Line
is a slogan used in the magazine.
Banner
A banner is text which stands out on a coloured background

is the main story in the magazine
